He has a fear, he says, that the wheat and chaff are being separated:
My concern is the fear that the intense polarization and bitter battles of partisan politics may be seeping into the broader ecclesial life of our Catholic people and maybe even of our Conference," he said, according to a Reuters report.
Holding the Catechism in the public square descriving sinfulness is seeping into the whole world, maybe even the USCCB. Therefore, it was his recommendation that despite what the religion tells the Bishops to do, that every Bishop should instead make up their own rules.
He then went on to say that it's downright confounding where people get the idea that they can make up their own rules, when it's written in black and white for anyone who can read.
He's made up a booklet for the politicans to read and they are shutting down their work.
