One of the stained glass windows at the Cathedral is one of the best images I've ever seen of the devil's defeat. St. Michael with his foot on the devil's chest and his sword in his gut. The face of the devil stares at you, contorted, frustrated and defeated. I always picture that scene at Golgotha after I've surrendered to the Sacrament of Confession, or each time the Truth rises to defeat deception...guiding us away from the lies and towards the Truth.
There's a new baby in our Catholic family here in the Archdiocese, home for the first full day today - baby Joseph. Joseph was along awaited, in patience and prayer, zeal and fidelity to Our Lord. If Joseph is anything like his Dad and Mom, this day there's another foot on the chest of the enemy of Christ.
